2 GENERALLY SPEAKING
-------------------------------------
**Item 1**
I Declare
Have you noticed that bit of code that is sometimes inserted into your html at the beginning of a document? What am I talking about?
( <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC"-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2//EN"> )
This html declaration can be quite useful to insert on your pages. It does nothing more than declare what version of HTML the browser is to use when reading your web page. Don't confuse this with browser version; it is referring to the version of HTML as decided by the W3C - the organisation that decides on HTML standards.
Lets break the tag down to find out which each bit means:
!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC:
This tells the browser that your page contains HTML that is accessible by public browsers.
-//W3C:
The official stamp of approval, declaring that the standard is set by the W3C organisation. http://www.w3.org/
(//DTD HTML 3.2) (Brackets not in code)
This stands for Document Type Description HTML version 3.2, which is really just saying that your web page is using version 3.2 of HTML as set out by the W3C organisation.
(//EN) (Brackets not in code)
This is just to tell the browser that the web page is written in English.
Should this tag always be added to your pages? Well it's not going to do cause a problem if you don't, but it is recommended, especially if you are going to include META tags and other more advanced HTML features on your pages.
------------------------------------
3 ASK ME A QUESTION
------------------------------------
If you need some information about a particular subject and don't know where to find the resources I may be able to help. Ask me a question and I will do my best to find the information for you. My aim is to complete the request within a week though there are no guarantees. To ask your question send an email addressed to:
QUESTIONS@accessfp.net
If you have a FrontPage Question these are best asked on the AccessFP List where I and other members will attempt to help you.

List
QUESTION:
How do I make curly quotes or apostrophes?
ANSWER:
FrontPage does not provide them by default but type in the ASCII code and you too can sport a new look.
Hold down the ALT key and type the code number on the Number pad on your keyboard, then release the ALT key.
Here are codes needed:
Opening single quote: [Alt] 0145 = ' )
Closing single quote: [Alt] 0146 = ' )
Opening double quote: [Alt] 0147 = " )
Closing double quote: [Alt] 0148 = " )
(In FrontPage they will show up curly)

4 Guest Article - "Put the Marquee up!"
------------------------------------
Marquee's are considered rather newbie to use, and not much use for anything but adding to your download time. However, configuring the marquee to scroll 'up' instead of left or right can add an extra dimension to something such 'old hat'. Here I explain how to create your marquee, tweak it and configure it to create a unique new look.
Create a marquee:
A marquee displays a scrolling text message. You can customize a marquee to achieve exactly the effects you want
In Page view, click where you want to create the marquee, or select the text that you want to display in the marquee.
On the Insert menu, point to Component, and then click Marquee.
In the Text box, type the line of text you want the marquee to display. If you selected text on the page in as noted above, the Text box contains the selected text.
To modify a marquee:
In Page view, right-click the marquee that you want to modify, and then click Marquee Properties.
To specify the text contained in a marquee, type the text you want to display in the Text box (there's no limit to the length).
To specify the direction that text in a marquee moves, click Left or Right.
To specify the speed that text in a marquee moves, in the Delay box, select or type the delay, in milliseconds, before the marquee text begins to move. In the Amount box, select or type the increment, in pixels, that the text in the marquee should move.
To specify the type of motion used to animate the text in a marquee, click Scroll if you want the marquee text to scroll across the screen like a stock ticker, click Slide if you want the marquee text to slide into view, or click Alternate if you want the marquee text to alternate between scrolling and sliding.
To align a marquee with surrounding text, click Top, Middle, or Bottom.
To specify the size of a marquee, select the Width or Height check box, type the width or height, and then select whether the width or height is given in pixels or as a percent of the browser window.
To specify how many times the text effect in a marquee is repeated; select the Continuously check box to repeat the marquee continuously. To repeat the marquee a fixed number of times, clear the Continuously check box, and then type the number of times the marquee should be repeated.
To set the background colour of a marquee, in the Background colour box, select the background colour you want to display behind the marquee's scrolling text.
Format the font in a marquee:
You can emphasize your marquee by formatting the font of the text displayed in the marquee. You can select a custom font or use a different font colour.
In Page view, right-click the marquee you want to format, and then click Font Properties on the shortcut menu.
To format the font style, size, colour, or effects, modify the settings on the Font tab.
To expand or condense the spacing between characters, or to raise or lower the text, modify the settings on the Character Spacing tab.
Tips
To preview the marquee as it will appear when a site visitor browses to the page on the World Wide Web, click the Preview tab, or click Preview in Browser on the File menu, otherwise you won't be able to see it working in Normal View.
For a truly top notch look to your site don't use the default setting for the marquee but insert the following code into the html view. If you have already inserted the direction just change it from right to up. The code should look like this.
direction="up"
Of course a marquee won't be viewable in Netscape but if your audience is mainly IE viewers you can treat them to easily updated newsworthy items in this easily configured smart look marquee, much better than a plain left or right scrolling box.

Keyword density
http://www.keyworddensity.com/
High search engine ranking requires your pages to maintain optimum word depth and keyword density. Keyword density is the ratio of a keyword or key phrase to the total words (depth) on a page. Keyword density is a critical aspect of search engine optimisation. To rank highly, your keyword density must not be too high or too low. A density of 1% to 7% is generally considered good.
