2 GENERALLY SPEAKING
-------------------------------------

**Item 1**

[ out of date link - removed ]

Chris Diamaano is giving away his inventory has he gone crazy? No he's just being generous with his old stock. First he was selling the themes 10 bucks apiece. Then he went to the package deal and started selling all 27 for $49.95. Then he dropped the price to $19.95. But it's a new year so now he's giving them away free for a limited time.

He's doing this because he's in the process of making more new themes to put on the website and will be taking off the themes he currently has up there. So if you want a bunch of free themes get on the list at:
http://www.dwwd.com/graphics/ and Chris will email you when he has the package together.

If you know any other FrontPage webmasters let them know to come get their free themes also, tell them you first found out at AccessFP Ezine.

**Item 2**

Backwards and Forwards

Did you know that FrontPage themes put together with the FrontPage 2000 Theme Modifier will not work in FrontPage 98, but that Themes made with the FrontPage 98 Theme Designer will work in FrontPage 2000?

Ever wondered where the installation directories for FP 98 and FP2K are?

The installation directory for FrontPage 98 themes is:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft FrontPage\themes

The installation directory for FrontPage 2000 themes is:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Themes

The talk this week touched on how to do a screen capture

"On your keyboard at the top it will say on a button 'print
screen' that will take a picture of whatever is showing on your screen at time... if you want to take a screen capture of a popped up window, just do alt + print screen.

Go to your graphic program

(I use image composer) go to paste special and paste the graphic into the image editor do with it what you will ...like cropping it etc, then save it to your image folder in your web.

If you want to have your complete screen full of the graphic and nothing else in the way, you can follow the surfing in full screen tip at the below url, look under 'Explorer 5'.
http://www.accessfp.net/popular.htm

We all thought this was a neat little program too.

"Don't you find it a bore when you have to strip out all the (< ) in a forward email when you don't want them included?

Well this piece of software is great I have it myself already and now you can get a add-in for Outlook 2000 allfreeware. I just read about it at lockergnome (if you want to join up yourself there is a sign up box on the homepage of the list http://www.accessfp.net/

or there are the direct applications for those without
Outlook which great for the rest of us."

4 Guest Article - "Greyed on Sound"
------------------------------------

A question that has come up several times for me this week was about sound so I include it here.

My sound is greyed out, what am I doing wrong?

Go to Tools |Page Options | Compatibility set everything to Custom and tick everything else.

Now no features will be greyed out. The purpose of this setting is to prevent you from adding things not supported by various browsers. By setting everything to custom you can put features on your page that not everyone will be able to see.

For example, Netscape does not support the bgsound tag in other words only IE users will hear your sound.

If you want to add a background sound everyone can hear, you could use a JavaScript or you can use the <embed> tag which is simpler.

Here is some html - insert your own url and name of sound file and path - (which both browsers can play.

( <EMBED SRC="http://www.yoursite.com/sounds/yoursound.wav"HIDDEN="true" AUTOPLAY="true" AUTOSTART="true"> )

- (Brackets) not included.

Just go to Insert | Advanced | html | and copy in the above text (using your path to the sound file for the text in quotes).

The bgsound tag is limited to IE. Remember lots of people do not like sounds and music on web pages; you might want to add controls allowing folks to turn it off if they want to.

In which case add the folloing to the code above

( width="50" height="25" )

- (Brackets) not included.
